In January 2001, the Health and Safety Commission published an Approved Code of Practice (Legionaire's Disease: The control of Legionella bacteria in water systems) referred to as L8
The L8 applies to any site involving a work activity, trade or business where water is used or stored, or where water droplets can be transmitted and inhaled, thereby causing a risk of exposure to Legionella bacteria.
